很多人聽到英式幽默, 都會跟我說看不懂, 像Brad Pitt 一口鄉下腔的「Snatch」、傑森史塔森一整個快到不行的「Crank」、到今天主角的「黑色幽默恐怖殭屍浪漫喜劇--活人牲吃」, 但真正仔細去咀嚼每句對白與每段場景, 實際上是能發現各中趣味所在.

1970年出生於英國小鎮, 父親是一位爵士音樂家, 七歲時父母就離異了, 16歲時與同學組樂團「God's Third Leg」擔任鼓手, 1991年畢業於Bristol大學, 主修電影劇場喜劇表演, 畢業之後移居倫敦尋找夢想. 擅長黑色幽默表演方式的他, 在2004年的「活人牲吃」幾乎是在各地大成功, 連知名製片導演JJ Abrams也因為此片成為Simon的大影迷, 受邀加入了2006年的「不可能任務Ⅲ」的演出. 但巧的是早些年Simon才表示不想演出好萊塢大片, 看來破例是能接受的.

2001年與Jessica Stevenson改編了「Spaced」影集, 雖然看片名以為這是一部科幻影集, 完全不是如此, 每一集中惡搞了許多經典好片的片段與台詞, 其中還有吳宇森的港片舊作, 乍聽之下還與2008年的How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (如何眾叛親離) 有些類似, 一樣像是向電影老片致敬的感覺. 「如何眾叛親離」一片的英式幽默卻有點被好萊塢美片蓋過, 全靠Simon一人才能讓我將它看完.

2005年受Cult片大師喬治羅密歐之邀, 與好友Nick於「活屍禁區」客串演出被殭屍虐待者, Simon的出現是會讓人會心一笑的. 2007年的「求愛馬拉松」(英文片名是跑吧!胖子!!!!!)Simon演的是一個有點年紀的失婚男人, 為了追回仍深愛的前妻, 克服自己的弱點, 找回自信, 最終以無比的毅力感動了大家(包括我).

Simon是星戰超級大粉絲, 一直對外星人很有興趣的Simon也崇拜「X檔案」中的Gillian Anderson, 兩人在2008年的「如何眾叛親離」中合作讓Simon興奮不已. 2010年的新作品「Paul」是Simon與好友Nick繼影集「Spaced」之後再次合作, 劇情是講述兩個瘋狂漫畫迷在參加完聖地牙哥的Comic-Con之後到內華達州的51區尋找外星人蹤跡.
