曾經被 Interview 雜誌票選為「好萊塢明日之星第55位」，Kat Dennings 出生於1986年賓夕法尼亞州費城，成長於 Bryn Mawr 小鎮，母親 Ellie Litwack 是位詩人，也是一位言語治療師，父親是位藥物研究者，也是斯克蘭頓聯合醫藥學院基礎科學系主任，Kat 是家中五個小孩中排行最小的孩子。2000年，Kat 14歲從高中畢業，就開始於小螢幕演出，初初只在「Sex And The City」( 慾望城市 ) 裡驚鴻一撇，飾演 Samantha 派對裡的一位辣妹。

 

2002 年全家搬到洛杉磯，演出迪士尼電視作品「The Scream Team」( 驚聲鬼叫 ) 中飾演想救回過世祖父靈魂的小妹妹，這部作品台灣等到2006年才在迪士尼頻道看的到，隨後 Kat 接拍了一些廣告。2004年為了「Raise Your Voice」( 勁歌飛揚 ) 中鋼琴家一角參加鋼琴課，2005年的「The 40 Year Old Virgin」( 四十處男 ) 裡 Kat 飾演 Catherine Kenner 的女兒，十分搶鏡。

 

Kat 在2007年的作品「Charlie Bartlett」( 大家都愛查理 ) 片尾唱了一首「If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out」十分有感情。2008年最新的作品「Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist」( 愛情無限譜 )，改編自 Rachel Cohn 與 David Levithan 的小說，Kat 飾演一名音樂製作人的女兒 Norah Silverberg，與鴻孕當頭的 Michael Cera 共譜五分鐘戀情，她以此片獲得衛星獎音樂喜劇類最佳女演員提名。

酷酷外表的她曾告訴媒體：「我不喝酒我不抽煙, 我更不喜歡做大家都會做的事」。
