出生於 1983年加州 Camarillo 的 Ashley，是獨立製片人 Nancy Spruiell Johnson 與船長 Clifford Johnson 家中最小的孩子，她有挪威、瑞典、丹麥、愛艾蘭、蘇格蘭 及美國當地人血統。當她九天大時，因父親的工作全家搬到密西根富蘭克林。Ashley 的演藝事業開啟於六歲，1990年在家庭情境影集「 Growing Pains 」( 歡樂家庭 ) 中飾演 Chrissy Seaver。

 


到了十二歲她已經參加演出了八部影集，包括「 The Growing Pains Movie 」及「 Growing Pains: Return Of The Seavers 」。1993年在「 Phenom 」中飾演正在崛起的青少年網球明星的妹妹 Mary Margaret Doolan，也在 1994年情境喜劇「 All-American Girl 」( 美國女孩 ) 中演出，兩部都只持續一季。1995年 Ashley 在「 Roseanne 」( 胖妞羅珊 ) 中「 The Blaming Of The Shrew 」集數中扮演 Lisa 一角。

 


Ashley 在2000年喜劇電影「 What Women Want 」( 男人百分百 ) 中扮演 Mel Gibson 劇中角色的女兒 Alex Marshall，在「 Roswell 」( E世代外星戀 )、「 Ally McBeal 」( 艾莉的異想世界 ) 及「 The Guardian 」( 法網雄風 ) 客串後，2008年在「 Dirt 」( 流言蜚語 ) 飾演常設角色 Sharlee Cates。Ashley 的哥哥 Chris 曾在電視節目「 The District 」中演出過過，她的姐姐 Haylie 曾在「 Kids Incorporated 」中演出。Ashley 曾在 International School Of Music 中學習小提琴和鋼琴，另外她還彈吉他和大提琴，她與製片朋友 Mila Shah 共同經營攝影公司 Infinity Pictures。

 


2013年 Ashley 參與 PlayStation 獨家發行遊戲作品「 The Last Of Us 」( 最後生還者 )，為角色 Ellie 做聲音演出，獲得好評及商業上的成功，她也憑藉著在遊戲中的角色贏得 VG BAFTA 最佳表演獎及 VGX Award 最佳聲音女演員獎。2015年3月12日發行的「 The Last Of Us: Left Behind 」( 最後生還者：拋諸腦後 ) 及 2020年6月19日發行的「 The Last Of Us Part II 」( 最後生還者2 ) 中 Ashley 都重新扮演 Ellie 一角。
